There’s me and no one else
A change has gotta come
If I’m gonna save me from me
I used to drink
To keep out the light
On bar stool
Every night
I’d make it home
Some way some how
Get up for work
Sleep on the train to London town
Who’s gonna help me now
I’m just surviving day to day
Always walking under slate grey clouds
Even blue sky’s get me down
I thought I caught a little light
When you came into my life
Gave me a reason to raise my fists
Ready to fight my way out of this
I hope you keep me in your heart
To not let go to not discard

To breathe again
Come up for air

I’ve been treading water
In shark infested seas
Waiting to be rescued
No ones saving me
I could swim to my island
Stay there and dream
I need some human interaction
Not just a face in a stream
Will You throw me a lifeline
Pull me to the shore
Beach me on a stony cove
Take the sun once more
The water gets so cold
I shiver to the bone
I’m looking back to see
You’re watching me swim home

We used to go dancing
Every Friday Saturday night
Electric Ballroom underneath white light
Now we’re babysitting
TV numbs us to the bone
Forgot everyone’s number
No one answers they’re not home
We’re waiting for a moment
We can be free again
We can wait forever
If not now when
Let’s do it for the old times
Do it for the good times
Celebrate just living breathing

Wish I was a kid again
Playing on the streets
Losing all track of time
Forgetting how to eat
The sun always seemed to shine
The game went on forever
An hour felt like a day
And a day was like a week
The Spanish students shared our home
I fell in love with Silvia
Tried to speak to her after church
Two words were never enough
It was easy to be happy then
When time moved so slow
Being free and climbing trees
So much time to grow
The smell of cut grass
And salt sea air
The stony beach
Sun bleached hair
Burned skin red lemonade
Go Karts and the roller blades
All day games
Until the lights went on
You had to sleep to dream
And start again
No worries carried
No shouldered hurt
Just simple kids playing
