On the road
Electricity inside me
I’m trying not to explode

She’s oblivious laughing on the street
She’s delicious dancing in her bare feet

I was warned

I’d get turned and twisted ‘round
Now I’m spurned

And the cover up
Always hiding
Behind the sugar rush
Trying way too hard
To be someone
When all you need
Is to be as one

All we do is fight
Yeah and that’s not right
So I stretch out my wings now

A heart shaped mole
On her sun kissed skin
Makes me dream deeper
I keep on falling in

Let’s take a spin
Down by the park
We can grab some food
Talk until it’s dark

Then we can catch a movie
Or go and see a band
Once we are together
Drinks in our hands

It’s time to start again
Reset our hearts to when
New York was our haven then
Before we were taken

Always there in the sky
Like clouds drifting by
We can almost touch the high
When once we could only cry

No tears can be set in stone
No movements to bring you home

She’s a girl who fights for what’s right
She knows everything’s not black or white
She’s gotta be tough naughty and nice
Doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty once or twice

She won’t stop
Until she gets what

She’s after

Shes beautiful too but she doesn’t do
What some other girls might
She’ll pay her way stay focussed and true
Keep on side and ready for the fight

No silver spoon under black moon
No equality of words to be said
No diamond heirlooms or lovers croon
No summer parties or winter ski sleds

At the shooting gallery
I couldn’t hit the ace
I lost all my money
On a one horse race
The lights were dazzling
And candy apple red
I got a taste for
All the words she said

We’re going round and round in circles
Getting no where fast
When you got a taste of honey
Better make it last

On the ghost train she got scared
Threw her arms around my world
We forgot we weren’t all grown up
Looking at stars above
Eating chips on the beach
Carnival lights switching off
We had our moment on the stones
Wave on wave we were alone

We were at school
