By the river’s edge
Where the salmon lept
By the deep ravine
You and I stepped
Away from the light
Into the steamy night
The sweet sound of birdsong
Echoed deep and long

We were travellers of a sort
Escaping what we could
Searching for a remnant
Of something once was good
We might be lost
But we are not alone
When I look in your eyes
I’m already home

So find somewhere dry
To lay down for some rest
A doorway a flyover bridge
Treat it like a bird’s nest
Buy a bottle to keep us warm
Tell a story sing a song
In and out of delirium
Until morning comes and we move on
We were young once we had dreams
They drifted off just like us
I’ve never stopped believing
This is just our reality

There is nothing after
Just this moment in time
An instant together
That’s all we have
That’s good enough
Don’t wait for a sign

Step on out
Dance if your heart lets you
Push away the doubt
Dance your heart will take you

The cars fly by
Gravity pulls them down
Just like you and me
We’re not stars in the sky
We could let go
Break free of this force
Push our feet away
Feel the ground beneath us fly

How can I slow down
When I’m already in reverse
Going backwards in time
Trying to find peace of mind
Looking for clues along the way
To save me from myself
I got everything wrong with you today
Now you’re moving on before your head melts

Moving on into the future fast
Trying to forget what happened last
A new experience every single second
We are victims if we are shackled

Tethered to each other
Never ever touching
No real feelings left inside
Just the fear of missing out
I wish I could just escape
Find some time to make mistakes
Electrical ether gives then takes
Only lies are left and people fakes

We’re not keeping count
Of all the love we made
Of all the fun we had
All the money we saved
I can’t remember names
Let alone the days
Can’t recall who said what
But I do remember you
And every time I do
My heart goes up in flames

You’re like a carving
In an Ogham stone
Even though the words are lost
When I touch you I know I’m home
Play cards to keep us occupied
Drink a glass or three
Walk the dog down by the beach
Beside you I feel free

We don’t wear masks at Halloween
The fireworks make us start
The bonfires burn all night long
Beacons fighting back the dark
And one of us will be engulfed
A ghost
A dream
A lost embrace
If it’s me I’ll remember you
