I’ve always been a Rip Van Winkle kind of guy
I fall asleep at the close of one eye
On these long journeys city to city
I try to stay awake daydream about my girl
What will we do when I get home
It’s the simple things
we’ll talk about our day
And the things that made us laugh
She’ll sit in the sun
to catch the evening rays
or put some music on
and read or write a line
Daydreaming on my girl
won’t be long until we’re not alone
Daydreaming on my girl
I’m driving home, I’m driving home
I’ll be thinking of the kids
and how lucky we are
they’re growing up so quickly
and doing it so well
Don’t make much money
but we got enough
There’s others out there
have it much worse
So when I’m traveling for work
I try to stay awake
daydreaming on my girl
Every mile that I take
I’ll be with her soon enough
from this never ending trip
just to see her brown eyes
and place a kiss on her lips
